Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, is a singer-songwriter and Canadian American. She has released more than 20 albums. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk-rock as well as alternative rock, but it has additional elements of punk, funk, hip hop and jazz. Ani DiFranco was the very first musician to start her own record company in 1990. Ani is widely considered as one of the feminist icons. DiFranco is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian descent as was her mother originally from Montreal. Her song 32 Flavors was written by her, and performed by Ani. The song was featured on her album Not a Pretty Girl which came out in 1995. The song is featured on the film's soundtrack the Canadian romance film Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologised in 2013 when it was announced that she would be hosting an event for three days at a Louisiana slave plantation. Many (including us) weren't impressed by her decision. DiFranco released a new apology days later. Little Folksinger is a singer who has collaborated with musicians ranging from Pete Seeger, Chuck D and Prince. She is from New Orleans. Ani was born Kristen Ford. The first song she wrote was around the age of 14. The songs she performed at coffee houses and bars during her teens. DiFranco started taking lessons at Buffalo State College at age 16 following her graduation from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts. Ani's custom Alvarez baritone was the result of numerous consultations with Chrys Johnson, who was the artist representative for Alvarez.
